Samsung officially announces Galaxy Premier i9260

Samsung officially announced Galaxy Premier i9260 that created buzz and rumors before its launching.

Like Apple iPhones, netizens commented for the similarities of Samsung models. Well, this would be part of the marketing strategy and intro of their succeeding models in the future.

This smartphone price will be UAH 5,555 which will be released on November 2012 in Russia and on December 2012 in Ukraine. That price is more or less equivalent to P28,000 or around $680.

Philippines take pride in Microfinance Industry

Philippines has been included on top 5 in business ranking in Microfinance (MF) industry. It was ranked on 4th spot among the 55 Economist Intelligence Unit's "Global Microscope on MF Business Environment.

Moreover with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Circular No. 744, it alleviate the MF Members to loan up to P300K which formerly P150K. There’s also a draft for the foreign investor to own a maximum of 40% ownership in rural banks.

Toyota unveils new electric car

A brand new electric car from Toyota has arrived in the United States – in the form of the 2013 Scion iQ EV (pictured). 

Toyota Scion iQ EV RedThe battery-electric four-seat city car has been designed specifically for urban car sharing programmes, particularly on university campuses; and Toyota is targeting around 90 units for these applications. According to Chris Hostetter, who is the group vice president of strategic planning for Toyota, the iQ EVs will be featured in fleet and car sharing applications and will expand on Toyota’s portfolio of advanced technology vehicles: which already includes the likes of the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid; the Toyota RAV4 EV; and the Toyota FCHV-ADV.

And the companies that can’t afford to give something away for free are now competing with commodity manufacturers that could drive them into bankruptcy.

Subsidy — either of hardware by content, or content by hardware — is the common thread running through Apple’s iPad mini (due to be announced Tuesday), Microsoft’s move into hardware with its Surface tablet (due later this week), Nokia’s slow demise, Amazon’s ascent, and the modest success of every regional Android handset manufacturer on the planet. It’s notable that the successful firms have opted for either one model or the other: none makes significant money from both content and hardware.

It’s no secret that the rise of showrooming  – when shoppers browse brick-and-mortar stores to check out potential purchases, only to buy them later from online merchants like Amazon at lower prices – has retailers shaking in their boots.

As a counterattack, chains ranging from Target and Macy’s to Family Dollar are ratcheting up exclusive, private-label brands – which defy price comparisons – and in the case of Lowe’s, are even reinventing themselves as wholesale brands overseas.
